Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
If I was to water a garden with this pump, would the pressure of the hose turning on and off be bad for the pump?

Answer
Yes it would! Cutting off the flow on the discharge or "Deadheading the pump" of any submersible pump like this would cause extreme backpressure, resulting in either a hose/pipe blowing out or the pump exploding. Neither of which would be a good thing in addition to being potentially very dangerous for anyone near this. The same is true for non-submersible pumps UNLESS the pump is an on-demand style pump or it's connected to a pressure switch and pressure tank.

How wide is the base?
I have a 300 gallon tote with the 6 inch hole in the top
Will this fit thru the hole?
Or can you recommend a small pump
I have 2 totes stacked on top of each other
I use the top tote for Gravity water supply
And the bottom tote catches rain water
I will only be using the pump to transfer water to
the top tote
