Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
Where is the motor manufactured?
John B.
from Pennsylvania

Answer
Most, if not all Lancaster deep well pumps listed on our website have the Hydro-Force motor which is built in Italy. They do also offer most of them with a Franklin motor which would be available as a special order.

What size wire is required for this pump?
Warren
from New York
March 22, 2017
Answer
These pumps include about 12"-15" wire leads off the pump. They do NOT include a waterproof splice kit, so this is something you would need to purchase locally. Gauge is determined based on pump HP, voltage, and total length of wire required. This will tell you, based on National Electric Code and your local code, what gauge wire you will need. Per the Installation Instructions: "determine the depth of the pump in the well in order to purchase electrical cable of sufficient gauge and length to reach from pump motor to electrical power supply. Properly sized copper wire from service to motor will avoid over-heating wire and excessive voltage drop at the motor."

Do I need to buy a check valve or anything else with this pump?
Jim
from Connecticut
March 03, 2017
Answer
These pumps do include a built-in check valve. If however, your total vertical head lift exceeds 100 feet, you would need to install an additional check valve at every 100 foot level. You can also check out the Pump Manual for additional accessories that you may need to purchase. Please note that we only provide the pump. Any additional accessories needed for installation should be accessible at your local hardware or big box store.

How do you hook up the electrical wires on the two wire 230V pump with no control box? My pump man does fine when there is a control box but seems a little confused when there isn't one. He is more a handyman and not a professional pump person.
Thank you.

Answer
All wiring diagrams are listed in the pump installation manuals. Additionally, all 3-wire pumps (actually, 4-wire with ground) DO require a control box whereas the 2-wire (actually 3-wire with ground), do NOT require a control box.
I would suggest checking your pump manual or contacting the manufacturer of your pump for exact directions.
