Product QuestionsAnswered by Jim, the Water Pump Expert
Jim
I need some direction. I need a new sprinkler pump but have some constraints to work within.
1. I only have 12 gauge, 15 amp service to my dock where the pump will be located.
2. My biggest zone requires 14 gallons per minute of output.
3. My yard has a 15 foot rise from the lake to the highest pumping point.
4. The furthest point from the pump is about 200 feet. So the run is about 200 feet.
5. I would like to have it on a pressure switch versus a box control shut off. I have a few spigots on the system that I use all the time. I would prefer not to turn the sprinkler system on every time I want to use a spigot.
6.My system is 1 inch pvc piping.
I put in the sprinkler system in myself and sized it for a shallow well pump that has lower amperage requirements than the irrigation pumps. I think I am limited to a ¾ hp pump because of my amperage limits.
My questions...
1. Will a 3/4 hp pump provide enough water to my furthest zone... 200 feet run and 15 foot lift.
2. Can I put a pressure switch on the irrigation pumps so I can leave the system under 40 pounds of pressure at all times?
3. If I put a pressure switch on the system, do I need to add an expansion tank?
If I can use the pressure switch, I think you offer two 3/4 HP pumps that will work... The Red Lion and the Wayne. Do you offer other options in that category?
I appreciate any direction or assistance you can provide.

Answer
Based on your lift and distance, the 3/4HP pump would only provide you with 5-10GPM @ 40PSI if your lucky. Can you please tell me the lift from the water surface to to the pump?
