How long will it run on a tank of gas?
Brent
from Alabama
November 08, 2016
Answer
That's a hard question to answer Brent and there really isn't a way to gauge it. Run times are based on how easy or how hard the engine is running. If you're pumping a short distance with minimal head lift, you may see about 2 to 3 hours of run time, but if you're pumping very long distances and requiring a lot of lift, that may dwindle to 60 - 90 minutes of run time. You might equate it to how you drive your car? If you accelerate fast and brake the same and often, your gas mileage suffers. It's the same with any gas powered piece of equipment. The harder you work it, the less run time you will realize.

Does this pump throttle down any?
Brad A
from Colorado
March 17, 2016
Answer
Most gas power pumps, including the Honda WB20, will have a throttle control however, we and the manufacturers do NOT recommend controlling your water flow by the throttle. Instead, it is better on the pump and engine if you install a ball valve on the discharge side and use this for your flow control. As long as you are not reducing your flow more than 90%-100%, you will not cause and harm or damage.

Hi Jim Is it okay to have the input 2 inch in and reduce the output to a 1 1/2? that would probably increase the PSI a little bit more too, right? or do I have to match both input and output with the same size hose? Thank you.
Marc D
from Minnesota

Answer
It is always recommended that you use the same diameter hose/piping as the suction and discharge ports on the pump. While it is sometimes necessary to reduce that diameter, it is NOT recommended that you do so by more than one size. In this case, 1-1/2" hose or piping would be the maximum reduction, While you may see an increased pressure due to the reduced piping, the pump will also see an increased backpressure on the pump. The more you reduce the hose/piping diameter, the more you increase this backpressure AND increase premature pump failure that would NOT be covered under warranty.
