Q: Is there any concerns with furnace gasses such carbon monoxide pull into the living space adjacent to the extractor in the basement.

by Joe from New York on September 12, 2013

A: Any fuel burning source such as your gas oven, gas furnace, automobile, etc., will produce some CO or carbon monoxide as a by-product when in use. As long as these are working properly, the CO should be getting vented through the appliance and out of any area that could potentially harm anyone. For gas ovens and stoves, these are generally located in a larger room with very good ventilation so there is very little cause for any concentrated amount to cause any harm. With gas furnaces, since they are installed in closed in areas, and the burners are using more natural gas to create more heat, the CO levels can get much higher. If your furnace is dirty or your vent is getting clogged, it can cause those gases to spill back into the living area which could potentially be very dangerous and even deadly. This is a scenario that should be avoided at all costs and is the major reason that annual furnace checks and cleanings are so important, not to mention the installation of smoke and CO detectors throughout you home.
The Bur-Cam Fan-Air System is designed solely to get rid rid of excessive moisture and dirty air in your basement that could potentially cause mold or mildew to form on your basement walls. While it would help with any CO that might be present, it is not the main function of the unit.

Q: Just a question on the Bur-Cam F80210 i will Like to use this in my above ground garage on Long Beach Island NJ to remove the constant Summer Humidity...Where does the water go that is extracted by the Dehumidifier?

We suffer from high humidity in there for about 4 months of the year and at time may see mold on Toys and Rafts.

Thanks Wes

by Wes Fritz from New Jersey on February 01, 2013

A: The unit itself is a modular system that is easily assembled and the control unit
simply plugs into a standard electrical outlet. There is
no water to empty and no drain hose is required.

Bur Cam Model F80210
Very poor performance. Our humidity level rose in the house after installation of the unit. There was no warranty card included in the packaging to send in. The noise level is higher than our floor model dehumidifier. Not happy at all with the product for the price.
Cons: Low Quality, Unreliable, Bad Instructions

Good For The Price
Instructions could be more detailed. Mounting plate divided into two parts, why I have no idea. Alignment was tough because of this. Otherwise it is a good product for the price. I will recommend.
