We've lived in our house for 15 years and never had a drop of water in our basement until the Rhode Island flood of 2010.

Of course, there was not a single pump available in the New England area due to all the flooded basements. I called a few online stores, spent a lot of time on hold and was told that next day shipments wouldn't be possible.
