Q: Hi Jim, we are looking for a sump pump that can also be used to drain the washing machine. We now have a Wayne submersible 1/3 hp, the cdu model but have been told not to hook the washer to it? what do you recommend? Thanks you by Victor from Michigan on April 02, 2011
A: The best option for that would be a Superior Pump Model 92015, 1/3 HP Remote Sink/Drain Pump System w/ Vertical Float Switch or the Wayne Model SYLT40, 4/10 HP Pre-Assembled Laundry Tray System. The Wayne system is currently on backorder with an estimated availability of April 15th. Both systems are designed to handle laundry water. A normal sump pump will not last long in that application as the chemicals in the laundry will wear at the impeller and internal seals of the pump. Works just fine
We bought the pump to get water from our cistern to our garden. We've only used it three or four times at this point, but it works very well and performs just as we thought it would.
We did not know what pump would be best for our application and the advice we got from Water Pumps Direct was extremely helpful.
