This pool cover pump is automatic and cycles on every 2-1/2 minutes to check for water. The pump looks a bit like a Badminton shuttle cock, but that serves a purpose. The skimmer base keeps suction away from pool cover, kind of important if you know how expensive a good pool cover can be!

Similar to the "good" recommendation, this pump comes with a 25' power cord.

You can always use this pump in the event you need to transfer water out of an unwanted location.

Not The Greatest
Have had this pump about a year, just had a bad electrical storm with several power hits and it fried the electronics. Now it does nothing. This pump also had 4 screws in the bottom that would rust and cause 4 rust spots on my cover wherver it sat. I also had a lot of trouble with debris clogging it up. I had to build a screen to keep smaller leaves from clogging it up. It also tripped my breaker a time or two. When it worked, it pumped a lot of water, but at night if you were near it... more
Pros: Fast
Cons: Unreliable, Durability, Expensive

Joe,
I'm sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with your Simer Pool Cover Pump. Unfortunately, these as well as most pumps are not warrantied against power surges due to weather. In addition, most any pool cover pump would require some monitoring if debris is a problem. These points are normally addressed in the manual that is included with the pump. That said, you might try calling Simer tech support at 800-468-7867 to see if they can assist you in this or any future case or consideration.
If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Sincerely,
Jim Owiecki

Product Is Ok
I like the pump, the only bad thing about it: when it is in water it turns on, pumps out some water, then shuts off.....it doesn't keep running constantly when in water.....it turns back on and does this again and again until the water is gone.
I was hoping it would stay on longer and pump all the water out at once.
Pros: Easy To Use, Quiet
Cons: doesn't seem to stay on constantly

Questionable
Not sure how I like the pump yet. I had a Little Giant for over 12 years prior to this pump. I shifted away from Little Giant because I thought it eventually failed because it attempted to pump even when encased in ice. I'm not sure that I like the fact that the Simer pump actually cycles on and off to detect water. However, the biggest frustration was that I followed the directions that came with the pump and installed it with a new, 3/4 inch heavy duty outdoor rated hose but, the pump... more

Impressive
I required a pump replacement for our pool cover. I did lengthy research and found the Simer Pump. I have only had it for a month now. But I can definitely say that it is a heavy-duty, well-made pump. If the Simer has the reliability that it's build quality seems to imply, this pump will prove to be a great unit.
Pros: Durable, Quiet, Exceeded Expectations, High Quality

Pool Cover Pump
I bought a pump 3 times now from different places. None of which worked like stated. When I bought my house and pool there was one and it was old and worked perfect for 3 years. The Simer pump comes close. It does come on every so often to check for water as stated. It also does pump out the water when it is noticed. However, it NEVER pumps it out continuously as stated when there is a lot of water. Sometimes the rain over takes it because it still stays on its cycle and only runs for seconds... more

Best Pool Cover Pump I Ever Bought
The pump is the only moving part, there's no float to freeze or jam. It is electronic. If it draws more current then it knows there is water to pump and it runs.

If it does not see a lot of current it shuts off. Too much current and it knows it is frozen or jammed and it shuts off. The nice base keeps the leaves out and it works great.

With a 2 year warranty you'll be happy with this pump.

Simer 2115 Pump
This is a nice powerful pump which may require some work to use. It works very well if draining clear/clean water. If there is a lot of small debris in the water, it will require periodic cleaning during the draining period. The larger the hose, พ” or 1”, the better it performs.

Assembly was quite painless, only requiring a Phillips screwdriver and be certain to line up the shield and base correctly. Directions were scattered on 3 different pieces of paper – manual, green and yellow... more
