Q: I am looking for a pump that has 3,600 gph and 40psi. Is there a way to determine psi from the headlift/inlet & outlet size, .... or?
by Bruce from California on August 25, 2014

A: Thank you for your interest in Water Pumps Direct. In answer to your question, yes, there is a way. Since 1 foot of head is equal to 2.31 psi, you can simply divide the total head lift rating in the product specs by 2.31 to find out the max psi rating of that pump. The DuroMax model XP650WP for example, is rated at a total head lift of 91 feet. 91 divided by 2.31 = 39.39 psi.
Based on your requirements, your best option would be the Honda 115 GPM (1.5") High Pressure Water Pump, model WH15 or the Honda 72 GPM (1.5") Water Pump, model WX15.
Of course, you also need to figure in your total head lift, total pumping distance and pipe/hose diameter and friction loss.

Q: Can I transition from a 3" discharge hose to a regular garden hose?

by Mary L from New Hampshire on May 02, 2014

A: You should NEVER reduce the diameter of your suction and discharge pipe/hose from the port size on your pump as this does create more back pressure on the discharge and lack of pressure on the suction from what the pump is designed for. If you MUST, you can usually get away with reducing down by one size, i.e., 3" down to 2-1/2", but no more than that or you will damage the pump and it will not be covered under warranty.

Q: Can I use this pump for irrigation on my nursery? I'm in Homestead Florida as a backup pump My well is around 30ft deep or recommend other.
by Josh from Florida on April 13, 2013

A: Thank you for visiting Water Pumps Direct. In answer to your question, depending on the total distance from the pump to the nursery and the elevation rise, the DuroMax XP650WP could be used for irrigation. Please note however, that this pump is rated at a maximum suction of 26 feet and total head lift of 91 feet. As long as you abide by those specs and your total distance on your discharge is approximately 200-250 feet or less, you should be fine.

Q: Does a 2 inch female threaded hose fitting connect to the XP 652WP pump?
It does not look like the pump body has 2 inch male threads?

by Dave Angelini from California on February 02, 2013

A: The pump comes standard with 2" male threads so yes a 2" female connector will work properly.

If you’re looking for a good alternative to a premium priced 3” water pump, this DuroMax pump is your best option. If you only use a water pump a few times a season, and it spends the rest of the year in storage, you don’t have to spend a lot to get a decent pump.

For light use on the farm or job site, this pump is worth the money. You get the same features you see on higher end pumps for a fraction of the cost. It provides plenty of run-time and weighs less than 70 pounds, so moving the... more

Great Pump For The Money
I am in the oil business and I have bought 5 of these pumps at various times over the last two years and they perform awesome. I pump hydraulic and heavy duty engine oil and they have never failed me.

Wow!!
I needed a trash pump to pull water from my ditch to irrigate my field. Not a very cost effective way to irrigate but it was an emergency. We hooked up the pump and it was pumping so fast I had to turn up the water flow at the head gate. WOW!!! We were impressed. I turn on the pump on the lowest setting and it runs for 4-1/2 hours on one tank of fuel. It's quiet too. So glad that I bought this instead of the Honda because of price. The savings paid for the 20' of suction hose and 50' of... more

What A Piece Of Junk
This pump will not pull water at all. It states suction 26 feet, your lucky to get it to pull two feet with a foot valve and having the entire line primed with water. When you complain, this site sends you to Imperial Industrial supplier, they made it. You will get to talk to Anthony, he is very rude and will not stand behind the pump, he'll tell you water pumps direct has the money he can't help you.

Buyer beware.

John,
I have worked with the manufacturer to get an entire gasket set sent out to you. This should resolve any priming issue the pump may be experiencing

I'm well pleased. Everyone else had mixed opinions about my decision to switch from the Honda to the DuroMax brand.
But after about a year after my first purchase of a 2" pump , I decided to buy two more, another 2" and a 3".

These pumps have preform beyond everyone's expectations . We have put these pumps through some grueling punishment, from nine lb. brine water, wast oil, glycol and iron sludge water, that's just a some of what has bee put through them and we have run... more

Starts On The First Pull Every Time
Summer 2012 we are having a severe drought like most of the country. We needed to move large quantities of water from our lake at the back of the farm to the house for landscaping and garden needs. I purchased the 3 inch DuroMax pump and could not be happier. It starts on the first pull every time and will fill my 550 gallon tank in just over 2 minutes. We have been hauling 2000 gallons per day since July 2nd and not a problem. Contractor buddies can't believe the quality for the price!

Good Pump For The Money
The pump starts on the first pull, much lower noise than my other pumps @ 220 gpm. It's much slower than my other pumps. Plastic suction strainer and hose fittings will remain in a box on the shelf never to be used. All in all I gave it 4 stars.
